Katherine E. McDonald, PhD, FAAIDD, is a Professor of Public Health in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, a Faculty Fellow at the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University, and a Fellow in the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD). Dr. McDonald uses ecological theory and social action research to understand and promote health and well-being among people with disabilities and ethical issues in research with adults with intellectual disability. Dr. McDonald previously lived in community with individuals with and without intellectual disability in a community of L'Arche.

Dr. McDonald is a Co-Principal Investigator for the NIDILRR-funded Disability and Rehabilitation Research Project, “Community for All,” which aims to create toolkits to promote community living and participation among people with intellectual disability.
