The process map begins with broad searching, screening, and mapping, but is then narrowed to fruit and vegetable consumption. Within this focus, three syntheses are identified:

• Synthesis 1 includes 33 trials and is subdivided into 3 stages: (1) quality assessment, (2) data extraction, and (3) statistical meta-analysis.
• Synthesis 2 includes 8 qualitative studies and is subdivided into 3 stages: (1) quality assessment, (2) data extraction, and (3) thematic synthesis.
• Synthesis 3 combines the results from trials and qualitative studies (syntheses 1 and 2).
