Sarah Bowen
Sarah Bowen, PhD, is an Applied Research and Evaluation Consultant living in Nova Scotia, Canada. Following a career in community-based health program development, she became the founding director of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Research and Evaluation unit, providing leadership for research partnerships in response to health system needs. She went on to become Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Alberta, where she developed and taught courses in engaged scholarship and knowledge translation.
Dr. Bowen’s research has focused on effective strategies for promoting action on issues of “low awareness” within the health system (particularly issues of concern to underserved communities), and on developing research partnerships among diverse stakeholders. She is the author of a number of publications, including practical resources for decision-makers and researchers (e.g., A Guide to Evaluation in Health Research and Promoting Action on Equity Issues: A Knowledge-to-Action Handbook.
