Working Groups Overview
The KTDRR project brings together experts to collaborate with grantees and others, with the intended purpose of expanding and reinforcing new knowledge and skills in the disability research and knowledge translation arena. Each of the working groups and communities of practice (CoP) is comprised of NIDILRR grantees and other interested participants.
Assistive Technology Standards
The working group on Assistive Technology (AT) Standards was facilitated by Jim Leahy, co-principal investigator of the Center on Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer (KT4TT) at SUNY Buffalo. During 2012-2014, the AT Working Group addressed the emerging requirements of evidence standards affecting the technology transfer of and payment for assistive technologies designed for persons with disabilities. Evidence for Disability and Rehabilitation Research
Led by Dr. Tanya Horsley, from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Community of Practice on Evidence for Disability and Rehabilitation (D&R) Research (CoP-EDR) reviews tools useful for the appraisal of systematic reviews and grading of evidence. The CoP also examines techniques for systematic reviews and syntheses of high quality research with the goal of increasing NIDILRR grantees' contributions in the D&R field. Learn more about CoP-EDR…

Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals
Partners from the American Institutes for Research direct a Community of Practice for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Professionals (CoP-VR) to examine issues related to evidence supporting VR practices and the potential utility and use of practice guidelines in the area of vocational rehabilitation.
KT Brokering
KTDRR staff lead a Community of Practice for NIDILRR's KT Centers (KT CoP) to address KT strategies, brokering techniques, and emerging KT trends. The KT CoP conducts an annual survey of NIDILRR grantees around KT strategies and needs.
TA Network
This working group facilitates connection, collaboration, and community among NIDILRR grantees as they apply KT strategies to their project work. Twice a year, KTDRR staff host an interactive online meeting through which participants can network, share ideas, ask questions, and discuss real-time needs relating to KT efforts. Topics for discussion are determined by the group’s needs and interests. NIDILRR grantees with interest in joining or learning more about KTDRR’s TA Network, please contact Ann Outlaw.
