Abstract: |
This article examines the usefulness and impact of mathematical models in optimizing policy decisions during a medical pandemic similar to that of the H1N1 pandemic in 2009. This study employs a qualitative case study design. Interviews were performed with mathematical modelers, public health professionals and individuals from government health departments. Conclusions of this research indicate that there is a need for improved communication among other findings. It is also suggested that a community of practice could be used to fill this need. |
