Abstract:

By reviewing and synthesizing the available literature reviews in the field of knowledge translation, Hoekstra et al. (2020) sought to answer the following question: ‘What principles, strategies, outcomes and impacts are reported in different types of research partnership approaches?’ To do this, they searched nine electronic databases which provided 86 reviews to be included in the present study. From the 86 reviews, Hoekstra et al. identified 17 overarching principles and 11 overarching strategies. The authors believe this study can be used to guide initiation and maintenance of research partnerships. Additionally, the findings can direct future researchers by creating a classification system of the key domains of research partnerships, which may improve reporting consistency in the research partnership literature.
