Online Workshop: Assessing the Quality and Applicability of Systematic Reviews (AQASR)

Assessing the Quality and Applicability of Systematic Reviews (AQASR) is an instrument created by a group of prominent disability and rehabilitation practitioners and researchers. AQASR offers a checklist of items that can be used to carefully consider the quality of a systematic review or meta-analysis in the area of intervention/prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, programmatic economic evaluation, and measurement, and its relevance to one's needs.

This online workshop, sponsored by the Center on Knowledge Translation for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (KTDRR), will make disability and rehabilitation practitioners and researchers familiar with AQASR, so that they can independently assess systematic reviews that are relevant to their professional activities.

The workshop consists of seven sessions and will be conducted by Dr. Marcel Dijkers, and tentatively scheduled to begin January 8, 2014. In each session, a small group of participants together with the instructor will review and discuss the checklist and apply it to a few systematic reviews chosen by the group. Each session will be 60-90 minutes long, with the goal of finishing in 60 minutes, if possible. Practice assignments ("homework") will make it possible for participants to have a hands-on experience to apply what they are learning.
