Erin Near

Erin Near has a master’s degree in public health from the University of Guelph with combined work and education experience in the public health field. For more than 7 years, her primary focus has been on supporting evidence-informed decision making through research. She is highly motivated to reduce gambling harm among players, through a public health lens. Ms. Near has applied her background in public health, epidemiology, population health, and social determinants of health to various projects in the gambling field. Some of these projects include the creation and development of an educational toolkit to inform newcomer populations (Vietnamese, Chinese, and Punjabi) to Canada; development of a toolkit and informational brochure for senior populations; and evaluation of gambling initiatives including interviews, data analysis, and report writing.
