Beth Stoffmacher

I am the Director of Operations at the UCLA Tarjan Center, University Center for Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), where I have worked since 1993. I am responsible for overseeing the programmatic progress for the center which includes the development, implementation, and performance of the Center’s projects and program and 5-year plan. I am responsible for a comprehensive strategic and programmatic plan for the Center. I inform the Director of the Center on the overall program progress, evaluation and reporting requirements, and changes that may occur to ensure the Center meets the operational requirements for all state and federally funded contracts and grants. I work with faculty, staff, advocates, trainees, and the Tarjan Advisory Committee (TAC) to ensure the center meets its goals and objectives. The TAC membership is comprised of individuals with developmental disabilities and other disabilities, family members of a son or daughter with a disability, representatives from local self-advocacy groups, regional centers, community-based organizations, minority-serving consumer groups, and state agencies.

Between 2000-2020, I adjudicated a grants program for artists with disabilities to help advance their careers in the arts; and for arts organizations to make their programs accessible and inclusive. Over 20 years, 550 grants were awarded to both artists and arts organizations (artists or organizations were awarded multiple times). Between 2017 and 2019 the grants program reached 50% of the state’s counties.

I have an extensive background in facilitating conferences, training, and meetings for individuals with disabilities and their families. I trained in Technology of Participation (ToP) Facilitation Methods (focused conversations, action planning, and strategic planning).
