Phillip Beatty
Director, Office of Research Sciences, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR)
Phillip Beatty serves as the Director of the Office of Research Sciences, within the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). NIDILRR is a Center within the Administration for Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this capacity Dr. Beatty oversees NIDILRR’s broad portfolio of extramural disability and rehabilitation research grants. Dr. Beatty’s Federal service also includes time spent on staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Prior to joining NIDILRR in 2003, Dr. Beatty worked at the National Rehabilitation Hospital Center for Health and Disability Research, conducting research on the health and long-term care experiences of people with disabilities. He has a PhD in Sociology from American University.
